New Year's Detox

Why Detox? Why Not! Most of us spent at least some part of 2010 putting toxins in our bodies. Why not spend 3 days flushing those toxins out. Feel lighter, fresher, cleaner and more energized. See the menu plan below and corresponding recipes. We are all Detoxing from Jan 5-7 inclusive. Day 1
Master Cleanse
Breakfast - Good Morning Smoothie
Master Cleanse
Lunch – Carrot & Orange Soup
Master Cleanse
Dinner– Watermelon & Mango Salad

Day 2
Master Cleanse
Breakfast – Morning Calm Juice
Master Cleanse
Lunch - Carrot Soup
Master Cleanse
Dinner – Marinated Tofu Salad

Day 3
Master Cleanse
Breakfast – Grape Shake
Master Cleanse
Lunch – Carrot Soup
Master Cleanse
Dinner – Basil, Orange, Peach Salad

Recipes

Master Cleanse
2 Tbs. freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 Tbs. pure maple syrup
1/10 tsp cayenne pepper
1 cup of Spring Water

Good Morning Smoothie
½ cup pineapple
½ cup blueberries
Put in a blender and blend, add soy, almond, or rice milk to desired consistency

Carrot & Orange Soup (makes 3-4 servings)
1 Tbs. Olive oil
2 leeks, thinly sliced
6 large carrots, sliced
2 Tbs. Curry powder
1 Tbs. Grated lemon rind
1 cup organic orange juice
1 ½ cups of coconut milk
2 cups vegetable stick
Heat oil in saucepan over medium heat
Add leeks and sauté for 5 minutes until golden
Add carrots, curry powder, lemon rind, orange juice and stock
Bring to a boil, simmer for 10 min.
Cool slightly, puree soup with hand blender until smooth then add coconut milk, heat for another 5 min.
Morning Calm Juice
2 cucumbers
8 stalks of celery
8 kale leaves (stalk and leaf)
¼ inch piece of ginger
Place all ingredients in a juicer and drink

Marinated Tofu Salad
1 cup of tofu, cut into cubes
¼ head of lettuce, leaves separated
1 tomato cut into wedges
¼ cup of bean sprouts
1 carrot sliced
1tsp of sesame seeds, toasted
Marinate with 1 tbs. of bragg liquid amino, ½ tsp olive oil, ¼ tsp. chopped fresh ginger, 1 tsp lemon juice
Grape Shake
1 medium bunch of red grapes
2 cups of watermelon with rind
1 Orange
2 mint leaves
Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth



Watermelon & Mango Salad

5 cups of watermelon, seeded and cubed
1 ½ cups of mango, cubed
3 Tbs. Orange juice, fresh
2 tsp. Lime juice
2 tsp. Maple syrup
6 mint leaves, sliced
Basil, Orange, Peach Salad
¼ cup basil
2 oranges, peeled and sliced
1 peach, peeled and sliced
¼ red onion, sliced
Apple and Garlic dressing
1tsp garlic crushed
1tsp apple cider vinegar
1tsp safflower oil
